Manager, Center for Information Management (CIM)

Manager, Center for Information Management (CIM) to be responsible for managing the daily smooth operation of the Center; provide one-on-one instruction, training, and project development to CIM clients; maintain smooth operation of the facility, which includes being on-call to troubleshoot technical and client needs throughout the work week and weekend; monitor the facility to assess means to continuously improve service, technology and operations and adherence to policies, procedures and service standards; monitor electronic classroom and CIM private studio rooms adjacent to the CIM; monitor the libraries collaboration room (Thunder) and Libraries Gaming Lab, in close collaboration with supervisor; develop and conduct workshops for faculty, students and staff; provide training for equipment and software applications offered in CIM; provide usage statistics for all services and questions in CIM; identify, evaluate, and recommend new products and technology to offer in CIM through continual research into technology development; communicate effectively with employees, clients and library staff and supervisor; work closely and meet regularly with the Libraries Systems Department to maintain smooth operation; coordinate the hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising of one classified staff members, graduate assistants, and undergraduate student employees; participate in library teams, committees, and diversity initiatives as assigned; other duties as assigned. Require: Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field or education and work experience in a public technology assistance setting or an Associate’s degree in a technology-related field and three years of work experience in public technology service support; demonstrated effective supervisory, organizational and communication skills; at least two years of experience successfully teaching the use of software and peripherals on Macintosh and/or Wintel systems; demonstrated ability to deliver quality service to clients under significant time pressure as well as when computers, peripherals, or software malfunction; demonstrated ability to supervise and train staff at a very busy, demanding public service point; demonstrated flexibility as well as an ability and aptitude to learn and teach as software, hardware and peripherals constantly change; demonstrated familiarity with library practices and procedures and library information resources; willingness to identify and learn new technologies on one’s own.

Desire: Degree in Educational Technology or Educational Instruction and Design; training and/or teaching experience.

Requires knowledge and experience to provide instruction and assistance at all levels of client and staff abilities.
