The Howe Center for Writing Excellence and the Office of Liberal Education are sponsoring a writing contest for first-year students this year. They are offering 16 prizes of $100 a piece for the best compositions by incoming first-year students that are based on the book selected for this year’s Summer Reading Program, Jess Goodell’s Shade It Black. Your entry may be in written, digital, or other form. Written submission are to be 350 to 500 words. Audio and videos up to three minutes long. The deadline is midnight, October 2, 2012.
