Dear
colleagues,
Just
two
months
ago,
we
formally
announced
Catalyst,
our
strategic
plan.
Working
groups
have
been
hard
at
work
on
the
five
strategic
initiatives
since
then.
We
held
our
first
of
three
quarterly
business
review
sessions
yesterday
on
November
10
with
the
Libraries'
leadership
team
and
the
strategic
plan
faciliators
and
sponsors.
I’d
like
to
update
you
on
what
we
discussed
at
that
meeting.
First,
my
three
top
takeways:
-
Your
input,
through
surveys
already
shared
and
those
to
come
—
provide
valuable
data
and
insight
to
the
working
groups.
Please
take
some
time
to
fill
out
these
surveys
as
they
come
across
your
inbox.
-
There’s
great
collaboration
already
between
the
working
groups.
Some
have
found
unexpected
opportunities
to
work
together;
others
have
already
initiated
partnerships
with
other
units
on
campus.
-
The
work
we’re
focused
on
is
practical
and
will
result
in
real,
positive
change.
Catalyst
is
not
a
thought
experiment
or
a
wish
list,
but
instead
contains
real
and
achievable
efforts.
Why
business
review
meetings?
These
quarterly
sessions
give
us
an
opportunity
to
assess
whether
the
work
we’re
doing
and
planning
to
do
still
align
with
our
vision,
values,
and
meet
our
current
needs.
Reflection
After
hearing
updates
from
each
working
group
(see
the
slides
to
learn
more
about
what
each
group
has
been
up
to),
we
went
into
breakout
sessions
to
tackle
these
questions:
-
What’s
going
well
and
why?
-
What's
not
going
well
and
why?
-
What’s
changed
in
our
world
in
the
past
90
days?
This
might
include
changes
with
competitors,
industry
or
cultural
trends,
unforeseen
obstacles,
etc.
-
What
do
we
need
to
adjust
in
our
approach
for
next
quarter?
From
these
questions,
we
concluded:
-
It’s
still
fairly
early
in
the
process,
but
our
progress
is
promising
and
the
action
plans
are
holding
up
to
scrutiny
so
far.
-
We’re
finding
that
gathering
data
—
both
from
within
the
Libraries
and
from
other
institutions
—
is
proving
more
challenging
than
some
of
us
expected.
-
It
might
be
easier
to
ask
ourselves
what
hasn’t
changed
in
the
past
90
days.
The
upside
is
that
we
want
to
make
sure,
as
we
continue
to
work
toward
completing
the
initiative
action
plans,
that
we
are
mindful
of
the
resources
we’ll
have
available
for
the
recommendations
and
implementation
plans
made
by
each
action
group.
We
should
have
these
conversations
about
how
and
what
to
fund
early
to
make
sure
everyone’s
efforts
are
fruitful.
What’s
next
-
The
strategic
initiative
sponsors
and
facilitators
will
meet
on
November
13
to
review
the
outcomes
from
yesterday.
There,
they’ll
set
plans
and
make
any
changes
for
the
next
90
days.

This
information

with
the
dashboard,
updated
at
least
monthly
—
can
be
accessed
through
the
internal
webpage.
-
Updates
will
continue
to
be
shared
monthly
in
Connections.
